My Hunt for the Perfect Winter Headgear
Alright, so I’d been looking for a new hat for the colder months. You know how it is. Beanies are fine, I guess, but they always seem to either ride up or make my head itch after a while. Plus, sometimes you want something with a bit more, I dunno, structure? Yeah, structure. Not just a blob of wool on your head.
So, I was browsing around, not really sure what I was after. Just knew I needed something warm, practical, but not something that made me look like I was about to scale a mountain. Then, this Kangol fur baseball cap popped up. My first thought was, “Fur? On a baseball cap?” Seemed a bit odd, not gonna lie. But the more I looked at it, the more it kinda grew on me. Kangol’s a brand I’ve known for ages, always thought they made decent stuff. Not too flashy, just solid.
Taking the Plunge
I mulled it over for a day or two. Kept thinking, is a fur baseball cap really me? But then I figured, why not? Gotta try new things, right? So, I went ahead and ordered it. Didn’t expect much, to be honest. Hoped it would be warm, that was the main thing. And maybe look a bit different from the usual winter fare.

When the package arrived, I ripped it open pretty quick. First impression? The ‘fur’ – pretty sure it’s faux, which is fine by me – was actually really soft. Ran my hand over it. Nice texture. The cap itself felt well-made. Not flimsy, you know? Good stitching, solid brim. The classic Kangol kangaroo logo was there, embroidered on the back. Looked neat.
Putting It to the Test
So, the real test was wearing it. I adjusted the strap at the back – easy enough to get a good fit. Then I put it on. Felt comfortable straight away. Snug, but not tight. The ear flaps, which I hadn’t really paid much attention to when ordering, were a nice surprise. You can tuck them up inside, or pull them down if it’s really nippy.
Here’s what I found after wearing it around for a bit:
- Warmth: Top marks here. That fur lining, or whatever it is, really does the trick. My head stayed properly warm, even on some really blustery days. The ear flaps are a game-changer when the wind picks up.
- Comfort: Wore it for a few hours straight on a long walk, no issues. Didn’t get that itchy feeling I sometimes get with other hats.
- Style: Okay, this is subjective, but I actually really like how it looks. It’s a bit different, stands out from the usual sea of beanies. Got a couple of nods, which I’m taking as a good sign. It’s casual, but not sloppy.
- Practicality: The brim is great for keeping low winter sun out of my eyes, or even light rain. It’s not a full-on rain hat, obviously, but it helps.
My Verdict So Far
I’ve had it for a good few weeks now, maybe a month. It’s become my go-to hat for pretty much any time I step out and it’s cold. Easy to just grab and put on. The fur hasn’t matted down or anything, still looks good. It just works. It’s warm, it’s comfortable, and I think it looks alright. What more can you ask for from a winter hat?
So yeah, that’s been my experience with this Kangol fur baseball cap. Started out a bit skeptical, but it’s definitely won me over. It’s one of those simple things that just makes the cold weather a bit more bearable. Thumbs up from me.
